To provide a signal transmission device for an elevator in which it is easy to clean a light transmission and reception face of a transmission and reception device for optical space transmission installed on a car when it becomes dirty.
The transmission and reception device 2 for optical space transmission installed on the car 1 of an elevator is covered with a dirt prevention case 12, which has a wrap holder 13 attaching transparent wrap 14 to an arbitrary side face, a wrap retainer 15 serving also as a cutter for cutting the transparent wrap 14 on its symmetrical face, and a dirt prevention plate 16 provided horizontally above the light transmission and reception face on a car side to cover an upper face of the dirt prevention plate 16 with the wrap 14. When the wrap 14 covering the upper face of the dirt prevention plate 16 becomes dirty, a dirty part of the wrap 14 is removed by rolling up the part to the holder 13 and the upper face of the dirt prevention plate 16 is covered with a non-dirty part of the wrap 14.
