PURPOSE: To prevent a transmission error by applying a specific voltage in the off-duty period of a mark pulse.
CONSTITUTION: The presence or the absence of the mark pulse in the first half part of one bit indicates a mark or a space. The off-duty period is provided on the latter half part of one bit. At the time of marking, the mark pulse has the polarity alternately switched and is transmitted. A certain voltage which has the same polarity as the mark pulse and is lower than the threshold on the reception side which identifies the mark pulse is applied in the off-duty period at the time of marking. The voltage variation for the fall of the mark pulse is reduced as much as possible, and an overshoot phenomenon to the opposite polarity due to a remaining DC component is made difficult to occur. Thus, the waveform distortion is reduced even in the case of a complicated transmission network to prevent the transmission error.
