To obtain an inorganic-pigment-based ink jet recording improved in light resistance without detriment to a recording density, color developability, and water resistance by using a polymeric silane coupling agent having a specified composition.
The silane coupling agent is represented by the formula: -(X)a-(Y)b-(Z)c- (wherein X is a repeating unit formed when a copolymerizable monomer having a group hydrolyzable into a silanol group; Y is a repeating unit formed when a copolymerizable monomer having a group having an ultraviolet absorptivity or a group having a light stabilization function; Z is a repeating unit, other than X and Y, formed when an ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable monomer is polymerized; a+b+c=100 mol%; a is 10-90 mol%; b is 10-90 mol%; and c is 0-80 mol%). The monomer X is exemplified by a vinylsilane or a (meth)acrylsilane. Y is exemplified by a hindered amine compound. Z is a nonionic monomer or the like.
