Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a silver catalyst for production of ethylene oxide having high selectivity and long service life.

CONSTITUTION: A carrier obtd. by adding compds. of one or more of elements (e.g. Ti, Sn and Hf) belonging to the 4-, 5- and 6-th periods of the groups IIIa- VIIa and IIIb-Vb of the periodic table to α-alumina and firing them is used as the catalyst carrier of a silver catalyst for production of ethylene oxide by oxidation of ethylene.
