PURPOSE: To enhance color reproduction performance and sharpness by using a yellow coupler sharp in spectral absorption and forming a white pigment layer between a support and a silver halide emulsion layer.
CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive material contains a white pigment in a hydrophobic polymer layer formed between the support and the silver halide emulsion layer and the photographic yellow coupler represented by one of formulae I-III in which R1 is alkyl or cycloalkyl; R2 is alkyl or aryl; R3 is straight chain unsubstituted alkyl; Z is a group to be released by a coupling reaction; R11 is a monovalent substituent except H; Q is a nonmetallic atomic group; R12, is H, amino, or the like; R13 is a group substitutable on a benzene ring; Z2 is a group to be released by a coupling reaction; each of R21 and R22 is alkyl, aryl, or a heterocyclic group; R23 is aryl or a heterocyclic group; and Z3 is a group to be released by a coupling reaction.
