In the silver halide emulsion, provided that the content of iridium in the surface of each silver halide grain is defined as A (mol%), and the average content of iridium in the sub-surface of each grain is defined as B (mol%), the conditions prescribed in the inequality (1): 0<B/A<0.2 are satisfied.
