To provide a cleaning apparatus which carries out cleaning treatment of water in a river or a pond to drinking water by using a biodegradable magnetic material flocculant in mountainous regions and remote places or at occurrence of disaster or the like or which carries out cleaning treatment of contaminated water discharged from a school, an ordinary home or the like to reusable water and further which attains simplification and downsizing of structure of a contaminated water treating apparatus itself and reduction of production cost and running cost of the apparatus.

The cleaning apparatus is provided with: an openable and closable container 3 which is supported by a support frame 2 so as to be freely and perpendicularly rotated and stores contaminated water inside; a manual operation lever 5 which perpendicularly rotates the container 3; a biodegradable magnetic material flocculant which is mixed with the contaminated water in the container 3 to flocculate contaminants; a magnet body 6 which is disposed in the container 3 and attracts flocks made by the magnetic material flocculant; and a catch pan 7 which receives attracted flocks. The operation lever 5 perpendicularly rotates the container 3 and the contaminated water mixed with the magnetic material flocculant is mixed and agitated to form the flocks and the flocks are attracted by the magnet body 6 and then are recovered in the catch pan 7.
