Abstract:

To provide a sintered forging steel which is a steel suited to manufacturing mechanical parts through sintering and forging, has high Young's modulus so that it assures high rigidity, enables reduction of the hardness to a minimum of necessity, and keeps good balance of Young's modulus and fatigue limit, and also to provide high rigidity mechanical parts made of this steel.

The sintered forging steel is a powder of an alloy whose composition consists of 2.0-4.0 wt% C, 0.4 wt% Si or less, 0.6-1.2 wt% Mn, 6.0-24.0 wt% W, 6.0-12.0 wt% V and the balance including Fe and impurities. 0.2-2.0 wt% Ni and/or 12.0 wt% Mo or less may be contained additionally. Water-atomized powder of the steel is sintered and forged into the high rigidity mechanical parts.
