Title:
SINTERING METHOD FOR CERMET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61281835
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a dense sintered compact of cermet by subjecting a cermet consisting of a hard phase of Ti-containing double carbonitride and a binding metallic phase of Ni and Co to temp. raise up to a temp. close to the liquid phase-forming temp. in an Ar and/or H2 air flow in a sintering furnace and then to pulsatory motion between prescribed pressures.

CONSTITUTION: For example, a mixture of commercial Ti(CN), WC and TaC is treated at 1,650°C in an air flow of prescribed N2 partial pressure and then powders of Ni, Co, Mo and C are blended with the above powder mixture by wet blending. Subsequently, the resulting powder mixture is dried and compacted and the green compact is dewaxed in the sintering furnace and subjected to temp. raise from 500 to 1,250°C in 7.5hr, while an Ar gas is allowed to flow in the sintering furnace and the furnace pressure is subjected to pulsatory motion between the pressures of 10-1 and 10-4Torr. From the above- mentioned 1,250°C upward, an N2 gas is introduced into the furnace, where the above compact is subjected to temp. raise up to 1,425°C, maintained for a required period and then cooled in gaseous CO2 so that the desired sintered compact of cermet can be obtained.
