Title:
SIX-PLATE PROJECTING SYSTEM LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0497146
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the utilization efficiency of light by providing a polarizing beam splitter which splits natural light from a light source into two polarized light beams and making the polarized light beams incident on respective liquid crystal panels without through a polarizing plate.

CONSTITUTION: An R picture is formed by an R light source lamp 1R, a reflection mirror 2R, the polarizing beam splitters 3R and 4R, reflectors 5R and 6R, and liquid crystal panels 7R and 8R, and a G picture is formed by a G light source lamp 1G, a reflection mirror 2G, the polarizing beam splitters 3G and 4G, reflectors 5G and 6G, and the liquid crystal panels 7G and 8G, then a B picture is formed by a B light source lamp 1B, a reflection mirror 2B, the polarizing beam splitters 3B and 4B, reflectors 5B and 6B, and the liquid crystal panels 7B and 8B. After forming the respective R, G and B pictures, they are synthesized by a dichroic prism 30 and projected by a projecting lens 40 in one system. Thus, the utilization efficiency of the light is improved.
