PURPOSE: To remove skew distortion to be generated at the changeover of a head and to improve the picture quality by using a signal representing the sampling end of a video information signal in one horizontal scanning period to changeover a reproduced video signal.
CONSTITUTION: A video signal (h) is inputted to a horizontal separation circuit 30, where synchronizing information based on horizontal scanning is outputted separately. The output is inputted to a write clock generating circuit 32 via a delay circuit 31. A counter of a write address generating circuit 33 counts a clock generated by a write clock generating circuit 32 and when the value reaches a prescribed value, a signal (k) representing the sampling end is outputted. The signal (k) is inputted to a clock input terminal CK of a D flip- flop 51, and a head changeover signal (g) is inputted to a D input terminal. A video signal (e) reproduced by one head and a video signal (f) reproduced by other head are controlled by switching by using an output g' of the D flip-flop.
