Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a skin moisturizing composition, having long-term persistence and favorable for beauty by adding an oil phase comprising an oil and a nonionic surfactant to an aqueous phase containing an aqueous thickening agent and forming an emulsion. CONSTITUTION: This skin moisturizing composition comprises (A) 30-80wt.% oil phase comprising an oil and 5-9wt.% nonionic surfactant having 7-12, preferably 8-11 hydrophile-lipophile balance(HLB) number (e.g. a polyoxyethylene ester of a fatty acid) and (B) an aqueous phase comprising 0.05-5wt.% aqueous thickening agent (e.g. an alginate, a cellulose ether or bentonite) and 15-65wt.% water and is prepared by adding the oily phase A to the aqueous phase B and forming an emulsion. Furthermore, the composition is prepared by dissolving the surfactant in the oil, heating the resultant solution at 60-80 deg.C, forming the oil phase A, dispersing the aqueous thickening agent in water, heating the resultant dispersion at 60-80 deg.C, forming the aqueous phase B, slowly adding the oil phase A to the aqueous phase B under high shear mixing while keeping the temperature at 60-80 deg.C (at a uniform rate over a period of 10-30min) and forming the emulsion.
