To obtain a skin preparation for external use having excellent effect on the decolorizing and whitening of chromatosis, spot, freckle, chloasma, etc., after sunburn and effective for improving of a skin disease, skin roughness, etc., by using an extract of a specific plant of family Apocynaceae.
This preparation contains an extract of a plant belonging to genus Alycia in family Apocynaceae. As the plant, e.g. Alycia reindwartii growing at a dry grass-land, a pastureland, etc., in Indonesia is preferable. The extract is obtained by dipping stalks, fruits and whole herbs containing leaves, barks and rhizomes of the plant in an extracting solvent or heat-refluxing together with the solvent, filtering and condensing. A mixing amount of the extract is preferably 0.005-20.0wt.% as a dried material based on the weight of the whole preparation for external use. The skin preparation for external use is especially useful as a whitening agent and a protease inhibitor.
