To provide a slag fuming process by which dust containing zinc and lead having low contents of arsenic and antimony and also slag capable of stably satisfying soil environmental standards can be obtained from slag produced from a smelting furnace for zinc and/or lead smelting.
The slag fuming process is, e.g., a slag fuming process where the slag is temporarily transferred to a holding furnace and a copper source is added to the holding furnace to hold the slag in the presence of copper and then slag fuming is carried out by any of the following procedures (1) to (3): (1) the slag formed in the holding furnace and a copper alloy are transferred to a fuming furnace to perform slag fuming in the presence of copper; (2) the slag formed in the holding furnace alone is transferred to the fuming furnace and a new copper source is added, and slag fuming is performed in the presence of copper; (3) the slag formed in the holding furnace alone is transferred to the fuming furnace to perform slag fuming.
