PURPOSE: To safely utilize a slantly traveling elevator by projectingly providing an inspection base on the side of the car of a slantly traveling elevator, hanging the upper end of a folding labber on the side of the inspection base, and making the labber function as a gangway for emergency and inspection mounted over the inspection base and a stairway for inspection.

CONSTITUTION: In a slantly traveling elevator, elevatable movement of a car 1 is guided along a slantly running passage 2, and a stairway 3 for inspection is provided on the side of the slantly running passage 2 in parallel with each other. In this case, an inspection base 4 is horizontally projectingly provided in the running direction on the side of the car, and an inspection gangway 7 serving as a folding labber is provided oscillatably around the axis of a sliding rail provided on the inspection base 4 and movably in the horizontal direction provided. This inspection gangway 7 is constituted capably of being folded into two by a hinge 6 provided on the middle part, and during its development, a safety switch 8 is made ON so as to make running of the car 1 impossible. Further the inspection gangway 7 can be installed at optional inclination by means of an angle adjusting link and an angle adjusting guide 11.
