Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide contact member configured to improve wear resistance, to prevent commutation spark, and to extend the service life, an electric motor and a power generator employing the same.SOLUTION: The slide contact member is arranged on a sliding surface, and includes a conductive hard carbon-containing layer including conductive hard carbon. Electric resistance per unit area in a layer thickness direction of the conductive hard carbon-containing layer in one or both ends in a sliding direction of the slide contact member is higher than that in the other end, or in the other end and a central part in the sliding direction of the slide contact member, or that per unit area in the layer thickness direction of the conductive hard carbon-containing layer in the central part. An electric motor or a power generator includes the slide contact member as at least one of a commutator and a brush.
