To provide a slide image data generating device capable of automatically generating slide image data obtained by photographing the necessary part of a sample by a microscope at high speed.
The slide image data generating device is equipped with: a camera 11 installed in the microscope 10; sample conveying mechanisms 21 to 27 holding a slide glass 17 and capable of moving in a three-dimensional direction; and a personal computer 13 controlling the camera 11 to take a plurality of high-magnification images while successively moving the sample in X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis directions, and generating the sticking information of the plurality of images and storing it one file. The slide image data generating device may be equipped with an external digital camera 12. Thus, a microscopic image is taken at high speed, and it is unnecessary to perform processing by opening many image files when perusing, because the image data is stored in one file. Large amount of memories are not required, and processing and display are performed at high speed. The three-dimensional structure of the sample can be discriminated.
