Abstract:

To provide a sliding member for automotive parts which can achieve a low frictional coefficient even in the case a sputtering process is adopted as a method for depositing a hard carbon film, and to provide a method for producing the same.

The sliding member 1 for automotive parts includes: a base material 2; and a hard carbon film 3 coating the surface of the base material 2. The surface roughness of the base material 2 is ≤0.1 μm by Ry (maximum height), and the hard carbon film 3 is deposited by a sputtering process.
