To obtain a sliding member resin compsn. improved in mechanical strength without lowering of sliding properties and capable of being molded with a common molding machine without oil separation from a molded product by using specific components.
This sliding member resin compsn. comprises 5-30wt.%. porous calcium carbonate whiskers, 1-10wt.% lubricating oil, and the balance of a synthetic thermoplastic resin. The porous calcium carbonate whiskers are fine needle-like ones having an average fiber length of 20 to 30μm and an average fiber diameter of 0.5 to 1.0μm. The synthetic thermoplastic resin is selected from among polyoxymethylene, polyamides, and polybutylene terephthalate. The lubricating oil is selected from among mineral oils, vegetable oils, and synthetic oils. The compsn. may further be blended with a waxy substance as a lubricity improver. A solid lubricant may be blended either instead of or in combination with this lubricity improver.
