Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a slider unit for super-calender in which a couple of sliders are arranged to both of the unwinding stand and the rewinding stand and they are synchronously driven and controlled so that the sliding deviation may be zero whereby the wound-up products having uniform hardness distribution in the width direction and smooth edges is produced.

CONSTITUTION: In the super-calendering, the paper to be processed is unwound from the paper roll 4 placed on the unwinding stand 2 and introduced in the uppermost nip in the multistage roller group for super-calendering, then passed through the nip group to give the paper W smoothness and gloss and wound up at the winding stand 3 to give the wound-up products 5. These unwinding and winding stands 2, 3 are equipped with the sliding units, respectively and they are synchronously operated to accumulate the rotation angles of motors 6, 9 with rotary encoders 8, 11 and the direction change of the sliding are computed from this result and the transmission ratio of the gear boxes 7, 10 to output this result to the controlling unit 12. The controlling unit 12 controls the driving of the motors 6, 9 so as to reduce the displacement difference in the sliding direction.
