Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a potassium fertilizer capable of manifesting stabilized slow-release properties within a wide compositional range by using K2O, SiO2 and CaO as essential components, Al2O3, MgO, MnO and FetO as selective components and including a CaO-SiO2-based crystal without substantially containing the K2O and a K2O-CaO-SiO2-based crystal as principal components.
SOLUTION: This slow-release potassium fertilizer is obtained by regulating the sum total of SiO2, and Al2O3 to 20-70 mol.%, the content of K2O to 5-30 mol.% and the sum total of CaO, MgO, MnO and FetO to ≤75 mol.% based on the total amount of K2O, SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, MnO and FetO. A raw material for the fertilizer is not especially limited when the raw material consists essentially of the oxides; however, a slag prepared by carrying out the silica removal, dephosphorization and desulfurization of a blast furnace slag or a blast furnace iron can preferably be used. The fertilizer is prepared by melting the raw material, e.g. at 1,300-1,500°C, then annealing the molten raw material to 800-900°C at 150-300°C/hr rate and crystallizing the resultant material.
