To provide an escape apparatus which slowly descends by using a slowly descending machine in the case of evacuation from a skyscraper building at the time of a fire or after the occurrence of an earthquake.

For this slowly descending machine, a spindle and a gear 3 are connected, and the outside 6 of a pallet of an anchor 5 and the inside 7 of the pallet are utilized as a release locking mechanism, and are alternately brought into contact with the gear surface 9 of the gear 3, and the anchor 5, a weight 13 and a pendulum are rocked. By utilizing the masses of the anchor 5, the weight 13 and the pendulum, an inertial resistance by the rocking is generated, and the rotation of the gear 3 is braked, and this slowly descending machine descends at a fixed speed.
