Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix phosphorus in formed sludge as much as possible by suppressing the scattering of phosphorus from the inside of a melting furnace when charging the sludge into the melting furnace kept at high temp. and melting the charged sludge in the furnace. SOLUTION: A phosphorus fixing material 2 composed of trivalent metals is added to sludge 1 contg. water before the sludge 1 is charged into a melting furnace 8, and the phosphorus fixing material 2 is reacted with the phosphorus and phosphoric acid in the sludge 1, and the phosphorus is fixed as a metal- phosphorus compd. or a metal-phosphoric acid compd. in the slag formed in the furnace. Besides, the phosphorus fixing material 2 can be added to the undehydrated excess sludge 1A, to the dehydrated sludge 1B or to the dried sludge 1C, and the material can be added at any time before the sludge is charged into the furnace 8. Aluminum hydroxide is recommended as the phosphorus fixing material 2.
