PURPOSE: To smoothly arrange a small elevator even in a wooden house without applying a load on the upper part of a building by pushing up a landing car from the lower part by a combination of plural slide rails, sheaves and ropes, and holding an unbalanced load by a guide rail.

CONSTITUTION: When ropes 20, 21 are wound by a hoist 29, a first slide rail 22 is raised along a fixed slide rail 25 so that a distance between second/third sheaves 26, 24 reduces by the towing action of the ropes 20, 21 having one ends fixed to a horizontal member 18a of a second slide rail 18. At the same time, a landing car piece side fixed slide rail 18 is raised along the slide rail 22 so that a distance between a member 18a of the slide rail 18 and a fourth sheave 23 reduces, and the whole landing car 1 is raised to the upper floor from the lower floor by a guide of a guide rail 17a. When the hoist 29 is driven in the rope sending-out direction, a slide rail device 30 descends by contracting by dead weight of the landing car 1 and a load of passengers, so that a cantilever unbalanced load is held by the guide rail 17a on the opposite side of the device 30.
