Abstract:

To provide a small volume oral transmucosal dosage form.

Provided is a small volume oral transmucosal dosage form using a prescribed amount of pharmaceutically active drug or NanoTabs (R). Exemplary applications include use of NanoTabs (R) to administer for the treatment of acute pain, postoperative pain or breakthrough pain. NanoTabs (R) is characterized by having a bioadhesion property and can adhere to such oral mucosa as sublingual and buccal mucosa. NanoTabs (R) is available as a hydrogel-induced type or arodent type.
