Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily produce a smoking material which is useful as a blending component of tobacco or a substitute for tobacco and excellent in aroma and burning characteristics, at a low cost by adding a (semi)crystallizable composition contg. sugar to an open-structured cellulosic web and then, (semi) crystallizing the composition. CONSTITUTION: In this production, first, a cellulosic web having an open structure is treated with a (semi)crystallizable composition contg. sugar (preferably glucose, or the like) and thereafter, dried. Subsequently, the resulting web is stored until a curing process including (semi)crystallization is completed to produce the objective smoking material contg. an open-structured base material which consists of a cellulosic material and has a (semi)crystalline coating film.
