To enhance snow melting performance of a melting snow spiral rod by employing a magnetic wire rod having a square or rectangular cross-section.
A snow melting spiral rod 11, produced by molding a magnetic wire rod 11a into a spiral shape, is wound spirally around an electric wire 2, thus constituting a snow melting electric wire 13. The magnetic wire rod 11a used has a square or rectangular cross-section and is wound, such that adjacent wire rods stick together. As compared with a conventional snow melting spiral rod 1' having a circular cross section, cross-sectional area at the snow melting spiral rod portion is increased, when the diameter as the snow melting spiral rod is set the same (consequently, the diameter of the circular wire rod is equal to the height of a square wire rod). Consequently, winding weight (kg/m) is increased, and calorific value proportional to the winding weight is increased. Since surface area of the snow melting electric wire 13 (outer surface area of the snow melting spiral rod 11) is decreased, amount of heat dissipation is reduced and since calorific value is increased and the amount of heat dissipation is reduced, snow melting performance is enhanced.
