Title:
SNUBBER CIRCUIT OF POWER CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3646421
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the resonance of a wiring inductance existing in the main circuit wiring of a power converter and a surge voltage suppressing snubber capacitor efficiently without causing the size increase and complication of the converter and the decline of the converter efficiency due to a power loss.
SOLUTION: The secondary winding 35 of a transformer 31 is short-circuited by a secondary side resistor 32. The primary winding 34 and secondary winding 35 of the transformer 31 are insulated from each other. The wiring inductance 4 of a main circuit and a snubber capacitor 21 provided for the protection of an IGBT(insulated gate bipolar transistor) 11 are resonated when the IGBT is turned off and a resonance current is made to flow between them. Although the resonance current is attenuated by the secondary side resistor 32 by which the secondary winding 35 of the transformer 31 is short-circuited, a current applied to the secondary side resistor 32 is small because of the secondary side of the transformer 31. Therefore, the current causes little heat and little power loss and, further, the large resonance current attenuation effect can be obtained.
