Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a memory card, which is adapted to smoothly operation of the memory card when it is inserted and removed.
SOLUTION: The socket 1 for a memory card is so constructed that the memory card 2 is inserted into and removed from a housing 3, a stationary terminal 91a sends a control signal that permits writing or erasing of information of the memory card 2 on the basis of contact with or separation from a movable terminal 92d, and an elastically deforming part 92b is elastically deformed by applying pressing force for coming into contact with a writing- preventing lever 23 to a memory card contacting part 92c receives, whereby the movable terminal 92d is contacted with or separated from the stationary terminal 91a. A writing preventing and detecting contact 92 has an elastic deformation rate-reducing structure for reducing the amount of elastic deformation of the elastically deforming part 92b when the memory card contacting part 92c slides in a grooved portion 24 between a concave portion 22 of the memory card 2 and a convex portion 23a of the writing-preventing lever with the insertion and removal of the memory card 2.
