Title:
SODIUM-SULFUR BATTERY MODULE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001085074
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a sodium-sulfur battery module capable of allowing the temperature of a gas sump of a variable conductance heat pipe to rise when the operation is started upon attaining the rated output from a large-output operation, lowering the cooling ability of the heat pipe, preventing the battery temperature to drop, maintaining the proper operating temperature range, and yielding the desired output and energy efficiency.

The temperature of a gas sump 6 of a variable conductance heat pipe 2 is raised when the operation is started upon making the output the rated value in association with the large output operation, and the boundary surface between the vapor of a working thermo-medium 11 in the heat pipe and an inert gas 7 in the gas sump is controlled with the pressure of the inert gas 7 so that the proper operating temperature range is maintained, and thereby the desired output and energy efficiency are yielded.
