Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft contact lens which is of a thin type, has good oxygen permeability, allows continuous wearing, has excellent shape holdability and wearability and prevents a dry feel at the time of wearing by specifying the central thickness of a lens and the max. sectional thickness of the peripheral part of the lens and specifying the position of the max. sectional thickness within a range of a prescribed radius from an optical center of the lens. SOLUTION: The central thickness of the lens is specified to 0.025 to 0.050 mm and the max. sectional thickness of the peripheral part of the lens is specified to 0.10 to 0.30 mm. Further, the position of the max. sectional thickness is set within a range of a radius 3.5 to 6.0 mm from the optical center of the lens. The position of the max. sectional thickness is formed at the curvilinear joint part on the front curve side of the lens. The curvilinear joint part on the front curve side preferably exists nearer the inner side than the curvilinear joint part of the base curve side of the lens. Further, the moisture content of the lens is preferably kept at 30 to 80%. The lens is preferably applied particularly to a lens of a low diopter of 0 to -5.00 in diopter.
