Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a diluting solvent for an unsaturated peroxide which is an essential starting material for the backbone polymer of a soft fluororesin; and to produce the soft fluororesin obtained by a safe process.

CONSTITUTION: A fluoromonomer is copolymerized with an unsaturated peroxide dissolved in a tert-butyl carboxylate to obtain an elastic fluorocopolymer (a) containing peroxy bonds in the molecule and having a glass transition temp. not higher than room temp. One or more monomers comprising at least one fluoromonomer, which give a polymer having a melting point of 130°C or higher, are grafted onto the copolymer (a) emulsified in an aqueous medium or dispersed in a solvent. Thus, the objective resin is produced.
