Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high carbon steel strip excellent in cold workability before heat treatment such as quenching and tempering and capable of effectively suppressing heat treating strain and to provide an inexpensive and simple producing method therefor.
SOLUTION: The alloy composition has a steel composition composed of, by weight, 0.10 to 0.80% C, 0.005 to 0.30% Si and 0.20 to 1.60% Mn, in which 0.005 to 0.100% sol.Al, 0.0010 to 0.010% N and 0.001 to 0.050% Ti also satisfy the inequalities (1) and (2): X=0.15×sol.Al+N-0.29×Ti-0.0030≥0...(1), and Y=0.15×sol.Al+N-0.29×Ti-0.0135≤0...(2) with other inevitable impurities, and the average ferrite grain diameter (d) and shape (e) in the steel satisfy the conditions in the following inequalities (3) and (4) from the viewpoint of the metallic structure: 35<d (μm) <100...(3), and e=n1/n2>1.25...(4).
