Abstract:
To provide a softening agent giving paper having excellent softness and hand feeling.
The softening agent for paper contains: (A) a quaternary ammonium salt expressed by general formula (A); and (B) an aliphatic alcohol having a 14-24C straight or branched-chain alkyl group or alkenyl group as constitution components. In the formula, R1 is a 6-24C straight or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl group or R3-O-R4-; R2 is a 1-6C straight or branched-chain alkyl or a 1-3C hydroxyalkyl wherein these groups may be the same or different; R3 is a 6-24C straight or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl group; R4 is a 1-6C straight-chain alkylene group; and X- is an anion.
