Title:
SOLAR ARRAY STEPPING TO MINIMIZE ARRAY EXCITATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01156200
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To relieve torsional oscillation, in a spacecraft, by step-moving a stepping motor for moving a solar array at time intervals equal to one-half of the torsional oscillation period of a device.

CONSTITUTION: A solar-array 14 serving as the power source of a spacecraft 10 is driven by a stepping motor 26 through a gear box 18. A motor drive 28 for controlling the stepping motor 26 makes an instruction unit 58 give time intervals τ between steps equal to one-half of the torsional oscillation period of a mechanism to a motor drive 52 with a remote instruction signal inputted from an antenna 30, and conducts stepping movement of the stepping motor 26 at the time intervals τ based on a clock signal from a clock 56. It is thus possible to substantially-reduce torsional oscillation induced by solar-array movement in the spacecraft.
