To provide a solar cell module and a manufacturing method thereof, where cracking is restrained from occurring in the semiconductor optical active layer of a photovoltaic element as much as possible in a deforming process, or a deforming process is carried out without deteriorating the photovoltaic element in electric properties.
A front surface member is arranged on the surface of a photovoltaic element 101 possessed of a semiconductor optical active layer formed on a flexible board, a rear surface member 102 is formed on the rear of the photovoltaic element 101, and a sealing material is interposed between them for the formation of a solar cell module 100. The flexible board of the photovoltaic element 101 is possessed of nearly parallel surface grooves on its surface on an active layer side, and the solar cell module 100 is partially subjected to a deforming process in the direction in which a distortion nearly parallel with the surface grooves is applied to the photovoltaic element 101.
