Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an easy-to-make and cheap solar energy absorbing member by a method wherein a solar energy absorbing layer is formed by treating high lead glass under reducing atmosphere or under nitrogen atmosphere by heating.

CONSTITUTION: An glass powder layer made over a metallic or glass heat collector surface by spraying high lead glass powder, which contains no less than 50wt% of lead oxide and has fineness of 200W400 mesh in 100% pass and suspended in liquid such as vegetable oil or the like, is heated under reducing atmosphere such as hydrogen or the like or under nitrogen atmospher at 450W 550°C for 2W3hr in order to form an absorbing layer. For example, glass powder, which contains 75wt% of lead oxide and has fineness of 325 mesh in 100% pass and one part, by weight, of which is suspended in three parts, by weight, of linseed oil, is coated over a copper heat collector surface to the thickness of 30μ and dried at 100°C for 10min and then heated in a hydrogen furnace at 500°C for 2.5hr. In addition, a similar treatment by heating applied on the heat collector surface made of high lead glass will also be acceptable.
