Title:
SOLDIFYING AND RECOVERING APPARATUS FOR MOLTEN URANIUM METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP01147027
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To recover metallic uranium having the shape of a thin slice executable of a treatment using nitric acid etc., in a vapor phase by dropping molten uranium onto the surface of a cooled rotating body, soldifying it into the shape of a thin slice and recovering said uranium into a metallic vessel.

CONSTITUTION: A horizontal disk 2 is rotated via a normal revolving shaft by the working of a drying apparatus and the horizontal disk 2 is cooled to the melting point or below of metallic uranium by a metallic plate 6 provided with a cooling tube 7. Molten uranium 8 is dropped via a spout 1 onto the revolving horizontal disk 2, is soldified into metallic uranium 9 having the shape of a thin slice and is recovered via a hopper 4 into a container 5. By this method, the metallic uranium 9 smoothly executable of the treatment by nitric acid, etc., in a vapor phase can be obtd.
