Abstract:

To provide a solid chiral zirconium catalyst which is capable of effecting long-term preservation and which is suitable for catalystic asymmetry aldol reaction and catalytic asymmetry hetero Diels-Alder reaction and to provide a synthetic method of an aldol reaction product or cyclized compound using the same.

The synthetic method uses a powder zirconium catalyst obtained by reacting a binaphthol or its enantiomer with a zirconium compound in an organic solvent, adding a nonpolar solvent to the reaction mixture and isolating the resulting solid precipitation.
