A multi-layer golf ball having four or more layers, is equipped with a solid core equipped with an internal layer core and an external layer core to cover the internal layer core, one layer or two or more layers of intermediate layers which cover the solid core, and a cover to cover the intermediate layers. In such a multi-layer golf ball, Shore D hardness of the external layer core is higher than Shore D hardness of the internal layer core. Also, the diameter of the solid core is 27 mm or lower. By this constitution, the ball hitting feelings such as a hitting feeling and sound, and the impact durability are excellent, and the flying performance can be improved.
