The solid image display apparatus includes a solid image forming means 100, a flat image forming means 101; switches 102 to 105 for switching input/output image data; switch control means 106 for controlling switches 102 to 105 according to display mode information, which indicates whether solid display or flat display is performed, or a demand from a time measuring means 109; a memory 107 for storing the image at the solid image forming means 100 or at the flat image forming means 101; a display means 108 for displaying the image data of the frame memory 107 in a solid image, or a flat image according to the display mode information, or the demand from the time measuring means 109; a time measuring means 109 for measuring the display time of the solid image or the flat image; a time limit decision means 110 for deciding the time limit capable of observing continuously; and a display unit time limit storage means 111 for storing the time limit set for the unit.
