PURPOSE: To obtain a solid ionic conductor which can be easily formed by using a polycation-polyanion complex prepared by mixing a cationic polymer with an anionic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: One or more compounds chosen from the group consisting of salts of polymers containing quaternary ammonium groups, salts of polymers containing sulfonium groups and salts of polymers containing phosphonium groups are used as cationic polymers. An anionic polymer contains carboxyl groups, sulfone groups, sulfate groups, phosphate groups, phosphite groups, hypophosphite groups or the like. For example, polymers or copolymers obtained from compounds having anionic groups and polymer double bonds such as acrylic acid and methacrylic acid can be listed as anionic polymers. A polycation-polyanion complex is manufactured by mixing a cationic polymer solution or a liquid cationic polymer with an anionic polymer solution or a liquid anionic polymer before heating or solvent elimination is performed if desired. The thus obtained solid ionic conductor enables migration of ions and can work both as a cationic conductor and as an anionic conductor.
