To provide a solid laser amplifier which is capable of extracting energy very efficiently and a solid laser device which is capable of outputting a laser beam of high power by the use of the solid laser amplifier.
The slab-like Nd:YAG laser crystal 32 of a solid laser amplifier 3 is provided with an input/output plane which is so cut as to make a Brewster' s angle, so that the solid amplifier 3 is enhanced in degree of polarization and capable of outputting a high power. The plane of polarization of a vertically polarized laser beam outputted from a solid laser oscillator 1 is rotated by an angle of 45 degrees in a counterclockwise direction by a polarizing rotator 22 passing through a polarizer 20, and rotated by an angle of 45 degrees in a clockwise direction by a Faraday rotator 24, and the laser beam made to impinge on the laser crystal 32 and amplified as vertically polarized. The laser beam is reflected from the mirror 34 and amplified by the laser crystal 32, the plane of polarization is rotated by an angle of 45 degrees in a counterclockwise direction by a Faraday rotator 24, and rotated by an angle of 45 degrees in a counterclockwise direction or horizontally polarized by a polarizing rotator 22 into laser rays, and the laser beam taken out of a laser device as reflected from a polarizer 20.
