PURPOSE: To provide the granule or tablet type solid processing agent for developing the silver halide photographic sensitive material high in storage stability against the lapse of time.

CONSTITUTION: The granule type processing agent containing at least one kind of alkaline agent, such as carbonate, phosphate, or borate, for developing the photosensitive material is controlled to a specific volume of 0.6-2.0cm3/g and a water content of 0.1-15 weight%, and the tablet type processing agent likewise containing the alkaline agent is controlled to a similar water content and a specific volume of 0.3-0.9cm3/g.
