To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus and method for correcting deterioration in a horizontal transfer efficiency that is conspicuous in an image photographed with high ISO sensitivity.
The solid-state imaging apparatus 1 includes: an operation section 3; a control section 5; an HCCD voltage control section 7; a timing generating section 9; an optical system drive section 11; an optical system 13; an image drive section 15; an imaging section 17, a pre-processing section 21; a display section 23; and a recording medium section 25, and a noise elimination section provided on the pre-processing section 17 samples and holds a data level of one pixel at least twice. Thereafter, a difference between at least two obtained signals is detected and the presence/absence of deterioration in a transfer efficiency is discriminated on the basis of the difference. When deterioration takes place, the timing generating section 9 decreases the frequency of the drive signal or the HCCD voltage control section 7 increases a drive voltage or executes like processing for the correction. Thus, the transfer efficiency is always monitored and on the occurrence of the deterioration, it can be immediately corrected.
