A signal processing means obtains a signal Vs which corresponds to signal electric charges from which noise components Vd1, Vn1 are eliminated, on the basis of a first output signal Vd1 of an amplifier 36 in a first state where an FD 34 is reset, a second output signal Vs+Vn1+Vd1 of the amplifier 36 in a second state where electric charges including signal electric charges Vs' are transferred from an electric charge storage section 32 to the FD 34, a third output signal Vd2 of the amplifier 36 in a third state where the FD 34 is reset, and a fourth output signal Vn2+Vd2 of the amplifier 36 in a fourth state where electric charges not including the signal electric charges Vs' are transferred from the electric charge storage section 32 to the FD 34.
