Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state imaging device which can obtain a successful dynamic range corresponding to an object dynamic range and a successful reproducibility of the object picture.
SOLUTION: The solid state imaging device includes a solid state imaging element 4 which outputs distinct picture signals Slong and Sshort of light exposure, a signal synthesis means 6 which composes the picture signal Slong and Sshort output from the imaging element 4, a peak level sensing means 12 which detects a peak level of synthesis signal Smix output from the signal synthesis means 6, a peak level determination means 13 which judges whether the peak level of signal Smix is within the range of level established beforehand, and a control means 10 which arranges an exposure ratio of the picture signals Slong and Sshort output from the imaging device 4 based on determination result of the peak level determination means 13.
