To provide a solution for intraocular local delivery of a plurality of agents to act on a plurality of different molecular targets so as to inhibit inflammation and pain, effect mydriasis (dilation of the pupil) and/or lower intraocular pressure at operation.
The solution is an irrigation solution used for inhibiting inflammation and pain, effecting mydriasis and/or lowering intraocular pressure during an ophthalmologic procedure in operation. The solution contains at least a first agent and a second agent in a liquid irrigation carrier. The first and second agents are selected to act on a plurality of different molecular targets and each agent (IOP reducing agent) is selected from the physiologic functional classes of anti-inflammatory agents, analgesic agents, mydriatic agents and agents for lowering intraocular pressure. The second agent provides at least one physiologic function different from functions provided from the first agent, and each agent is contained at a concentration of 100,000 nM or smaller.
