Abstract:

To provide a process for preparing a polymer latex suitable for use in a toner that is more efficient, takes less time, and has a high product yield.

The process includes a step of: contacting at least one polyester resin with a plasticizer to form a pre-blend mixture; neutralizing the pre-blend mixture with a neutralizing agent; contacting the pre-blend mixture with a surfactant; melt-mixing the pre-blend mixture; contacting the melt-mixed mixture with de-ionized water to form an oil-in-water emulsion containing latex particles; and continuously recovering the latex particles.
