PURPOSE: To impart a cloth with excellent antipilling property by carrying out enzymatic treatment at a total enzyme titer lower than a specific unit after washing off residual spinning oil in the cellulase treatment of a solvent- spun cellulosic fiber.
CONSTITUTION: Raw stock, sliver, spun yarn, woven or knit fabric, etc., of a solvent-spun cellulosic fiber such as Tencel are modified by an enzymatic treatment. Prior to the enzymatic treatment, e.g. a Tencel raw stock is charged into an Overmaier system dyeing machine and the spinning oil composed of anionic or cationic surfactant, etc., and remaining on the fiber is removed by circulating a hot water of 75°C until the attaching amount is decreased to ≤0.005wt.%. The washed fiber is subjected to a cellulase treatment at a total enzyme titer of ≤50,000 units to uniformly modify the fiber to an average single fiber strength of ≤3.5g/d and a strength variation of ≤20%. A woven or knit fabric composed of the modified fiber has an antipilling property of Class 4 or above by the antipilling test (JIS L-1076) with a domestic washer.
